Week 4 “I Can Be What I Will Be”
“I will form good habits and become their slave.” ~Og Mandino
“Cease striving and know that I am God;” Psalms: 46:10 New American Standard “Be still, and know that I am God:” Psalms: 46:10 King James
I’ve always loved the phrasing of these verses and the contrast in translation between American Standard and King James Bibles.
Be Still — 15 Minutes a Day “If you cannot master your body then how will you master your thoughts?” ~MKE That is the point being made in this exercise.
To be still is to cease striving. Just be. Just breathe. Breathe is life, breath and feel the life within It is in these moments that I feel closer to God and to spirit and understand what I can be and the need to unlock that elusive thing within me that will allow me to walk tall among men and begin a new life.
1:41. In order to express life there must be mind; nothing can exist without mind. Everything which exists is some manifestation of this one basic substance from which and by which all things have been created and are continually being recreated. ~Charles F. Haanel
There is a lot of debate about creation, how long it took and the possibilities. The contradiction between the bible and science e.g. Darwin and so forth. Then it occurred to me. I get an idea. I work with the idea over time to create the reality of it: be it a drawing, a story, build a house, build a computer, go to work and get a job done… None of which happened over night or in a split second but it all started with a thought.
“Everything which exists is some manifestation of this one basic substance”–thought, mind “which all things have been created and are continually being recreated.” Your day begins with thought from the moment you wake and ends with thought to the moment you still and sleep, even then the unconscious mind thinks.
The impossible?
Man flies in the air. Man has walked on the moon. Man walks around talking into a little gadget he holds in his hand connected to nothing. What was imagination, just a thought, is now a reality.
God Thought and the Universe manifested.
Overcoming struggle. Learning focus. These things teach discipline. All things are the lessons of life to carry us to that place of thought and where we will manifest our reality or not, but it begins within with a thought. Be Still. Look Within.
Manifestation begins with a thought upon which discipline and focus are applied.
4:9. If you cannot do these things it is because you have thus far not made the necessary effort. Now is the time to make the effort. The result will be exactly in proportion to the effort expended. One of the strongest affirmations which you can use for the purpose of strengthening the will and realizing your power to accomplish, is, “I can be what I will to be.” ~Haanel
I had my mother for such a short time. Yet her words are imprinted on my mind, because she always said to me, “Juneta you can be anything, do anything that you put your mind to.” Little did I know what wise words she had spoken. I wonder did she know or was it just a principle that had been taught to her and took up residence in her mind?
“I walk tall among men and they know me not for today I am a new man, with a new life.” ~Og Mandino
Great post with some fantastic insights thank you.
You are welcome. Thank you for stopping to visit with me.
I love the Be Still version. And the New American Standard version is accurate; however, in this case, King James teaches us how to cease striving. Wonderful comparison. I’m enjoying reading about your journey — and learning as I read.
Thank you Jean. Hugs, so glad to visit with you.
